Project Budget Calculator

Build a transparent project cash ceiling from materials, consumables, access, cleanup and a separately visible contingency reserve.

Build a visible project ceiling by separating predictable costs from contingency. Use one currency consistently; FixLume does not convert currencies or estimate local labor rates.

Enter your project costsThe planning ceiling will appear here.

Keep contingency uncommitted until a real unknown appears. If the project changes scope, rebuild the estimate instead of treating contingency as extra spending money.

How the project ceiling works

Formula

Planned spend = materials + consumables + tools/access + cleanup. Contingency = planned spend × contingency percentage. Cash ceiling = planned spend + contingency.

Worked example

If planned categories total 650 and the contingency input is 12%, the reserve is 78 and the planning ceiling is 728. The 78 remains uncommitted unless a real unknown appears.

When this result is useful

Use the calculator after defining project scope and separating confirmed purchases from conditional purchases. Keeping categories visible makes it easier to update one assumption without rebuilding the whole estimate.

Important limitations

This is not a quotation, local cost database or labor estimator. It does not know taxes, delivery, permit costs, disposal fees, exchange rates or contractor pricing in your area. A contingency percentage does not compensate for an undefined project scope.

Editorial note: FixLume calculations are educational planning aids. We show the formula and assumptions so you can check the arithmetic yourself. Product-specific requirements should be verified against the exact manufacturer documentation and applicable local requirements.
